Exotic Animals

Jeffry is one of the most impressive — and lovable — animals at Circle D Funny Farm. As one of our three water buffalo, Jeffry is especially known for his excitement when the Safari Hayride comes through. He absolutely loves being fed treats and is always eager to greet our guests.

Seeing a water buffalo up close is an unforgettable experience, and Jeffry’s calm but curious personality makes him a guest favorite.

Ellie is one of our special bottle babies and was lovingly raised in our home, receiving hands-on care from day one. Experiences like Ellie’s reflect our commitment to building trust and positive relationships with our animals. Our goal is to ensure healthy, respectful interactions that prioritize the well-being of each animal while allowing guests to safely connect with them in a meaningful way. 

 Buddy and Barbie are our red kangaroos and are two of the most unique and beloved animals at Circle D Funny Farm. Red kangaroos are the largest species of kangaroo and are native to Australia, where they are known for their powerful hind legs, long tails used for balance, and incredible jumping ability. Kangaroos are herbivores that primarily eat grasses and plants, and they are most active during the cooler parts of the day. Buddy and Barbie help us educate guests about exotic animals and their natural behaviors while showing how proper care and enrichment allow them to thrive in a farm setting. Through animals like Buddy and Barbie, we aim to provide positive, healthy interactions that foster respect, curiosity, and appreciation for wildlife. 

 Dolly is one of our water buffalo and a very special member of our farm. Despite her large size, she has a gentle, affectionate personality and is often described as being like a big dog—friendly, loyal, and loving toward people. Animals like Dolly allow us to show guests that even the largest livestock can have sweet, engaging personalities. Through her, we provide opportunities for safe, hands-on interactions that teach respect, care, and appreciation for animals of all sizes. 

 Mort is our curious and playful coatimundi, one of the most entertaining members of Circle D Funny Farm. Coatimundis, sometimes called coatis, are members of the raccoon family native to Central and South America. They are highly social, intelligent animals known for their long, ringed tails, sharp claws, and inquisitive nature. In the wild, coatis live in groups called bands and spend much of their time foraging for fruits, insects, and small animals. Mort brings that same curiosity and energy to our farm, allowing guests to observe and interact with a unique exotic species up close. Through experiences with Mort, we aim to teach about wildlife behavior, animal care, and the importance of respecting exotic animals while providing safe and positive interactions. 

 Bella-Roo is our youngest red kangaroo, and we had the privilege of bottle-raising her alongside our other female kangaroo, Barbie. Female kangaroos, called does or flyers, are known for their strong maternal instincts and unique reproductive biology. Like all kangaroos, they have a pouch, called a marsupium, where they carry and nurse their joeys until they are ready to explore the world outside. Female red kangaroos are generally smaller than males but are incredibly agile and powerful, capable of hopping long distances to travel or escape danger. Caring for Bella-Roo and Barbie has allowed us to observe the gentle, nurturing side of female kangaroos up close while teaching guests about their behavior, biology, and the importance of responsible animal care. 

  Speedy is our 25-year-old sulcata tortoise, a fascinating and long-lived species that is one of the largest tortoises native to Africa. Also known as the African spurred tortoise, sulcatas can grow very large—sometimes weighing over 100 pounds—and are known for their sturdy, domed shells and strong, spurred legs that help them dig burrows. They are herbivores, primarily eating grasses and leafy plants, and are well-adapted to hot, dry climates. Despite their size, sulcata tortoises are gentle and slow-moving, making them a favorite for educational encounters. At 25 years old, Speedy has been a beloved member of our farm for many years, allowing guests to observe the unique behaviors and characteristics of tortoises up close while learning about reptiles, animal care, and the diversity of God’s creation.
